The current cleanup action plan will run through the end of 2023 and a two year confirmation monitoring will then begin in 2024. This is to show long-term cleanup success. There are some areas of the site where soil will likely not meet cleanup levels before the property is transferred to WSDOT. Areas of remaining soil contamination will be managed with an environmental covenenat and soil management plan.
Tanner Bushnell from the DOE, who is working on the Edmonds site says that there is a 70% chance that our current wells will be in compliance. There are currently 10 wells that currently do not meet cleanup standards. There are 37 wells that continue to be monitored quarterly.
